I think the death penalty should not be applied in Indonesia for violating human rights if there is a crime then his punishment should be in accordance with what is done and a deterrent effect. according to the president Joko Widodo admit a lot of pressure from the outside world relevant international death sentence for drug users .presiden insists there is no any party who can intervene death penalty decision. I do have to say a lot of pressure the pressure of the world's internasional.tapi I emphasize the rule of law we..

The death penalty is the punishment of the oldest and most severe than other types of penalties. Many people assume that the death penalty is not in accordance with the times, but i think that the death penalty can still be applied because there is the proverb "lives in pay with their lives".
According to Prof.Dr.Achmad ali, Sh, application of the death penalty is necessary but must be specifically and se selectively.
Specific means the death penalty is applied for serious crimes (heinous) includes corruption, drug dealers, terrorists, etc. And the means of the selective is that the suspect who received a death sentence should really have proved very covincing in court that it was him.

Death penalty by Agus Dedi Supriadi

I really agree about the death penalty in Indonesia because beside it makes people who want to do something bad will be wary when they want to do crime, it give us a lesson if we didn't know something we've never seen before, we have to asked it first because not all the people were kind, sometimes people can stab us from behind and make us to do such a crime with invisible way. so the punishment for they who did crime such as killing, murdering, consuming drugs and corruption must be with the death penalty. as al-qur'an said " god's rule are possibility strong for human, but the human's law are very strong against their people". so its okay if the government allowed a punishment like death penalty exist in Indonesia.

Death penalty by Yusni Muhammad Nizar

Based on my point of view, the death penalty should not be eradicated because it will give a wary for they who do. for example, the corruptor should be given a death penalty, if not, they have to give the money back to the authorities. if the corruptor just arrested in the jail, they will have no wary about what they have do, for example in Malaysia, the government have a brave to giving a death penalty for those who did something unforgivable.

Death penalty by taufik ma'rif aji

I agree with the death penalty because as a people especially human need something called piece. with many drug's dealer many people will be addicted to try or consume it, so the community of the drugs dealer will be increased. as we can see, there is no benefit using drugs just if they wanna die by theirselves. In Indonesia, many teenagers becomes a victim's of drugs. so for the youth generation, the best way to eradicate Indonesia from drugs consumption is to punish the drugs dealer for good reason.

About Death penalty in Indonesia by Rangga Yudha Sena

The death penalty is not suit for the drug porter or dealer, i think. because the one to be given the death penalty is the drugs bosses, he/she took the advantages from them and as we can see the main captured by the police are the dealers, not the bosses, why? because they use their top place as boss to playing their game in drugs crime. the government just need to punish them the drugs dealer without with death penalty. someone who suit for the death penalties are they who kill or murder with no reasons or with a simple problems  that can be solved by discussed it. "life paid by life and death paid by death", that's my assumption.

1. While the evidence tells me that the death penalty does little to deter crime, I believe there are some crimes–mass murder, the rape and murder of a child so heinous that the community is justified in expressing the full measure of its outrage by meting out the ultimate punishment. On the other hand, the way capital cases were tried in Illinois at the time was so rife with error, questionable police tactics, racial bias, and shoddy lawyering, that 13 death row inmates had been exonerated
Barack Obama President US 2009 to date – The Audacity of Hope 2006
2. If an offender has committed murder, he must die. In this case, no possible substitute can satisfy justice. For there is no parallel between death and even the most miserable life, so that there is no equality of crime and retribution unless the perpetrator is judicially put to death.
Immanuel Kant, 18th Century German philosopher.
3.  All grandeur, all power, and all subordination to authority rests on the executioner: he is the horror and the bond of human association. Remove this incomprehensible agent from the world and at that very moment order gives way to chaos, thrones topple and society disappears.
Joseph De Maistre, 19th Century French diplomat & philosopher.
4.  Personally have always voted for the death penalty because I believe that people who go out prepared to take the lives of other people forfeit their own right to live. I believe that that death penalty should be used only very rarely, but I believe that no-one should go out certain that no matter how cruel, how vicious, how hideous their murder, they themselves will not suffer the death penalty.
Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister UK 1979 -1990
5.  If we execute murderers and there is in fact no deterrent effect, we have killed a bunch of murderers. If we fail to execute murderers, and doing so would in fact have deterred other murders, we have allowed the killing of innocent victims. I would much rather risk the former. This, to me, is not a tough call…..All over the country news stories bemoan and hype the countdown to execution number 1000, but where are the stories regarding the ripple effect of the heinous crimes that these murderers were executed for committing?
John C McAdams, 2009 associate Professor of Political Science. Marquette University US.
6.  If Capital Punishment is state sponsored murder, then any lesser punishment is a state sponsored murder of Justice…. It is Justice, not Laws that cures the society. And Capital Punishment is the only Justice that suits a murderer.
Saqib Ali, Democrat State Delegate, Maryland, 2006 to date
7.  I have also seen it stated that Capital punishment is murder in its worst form. I should like to know upon what principle of human society these assertions are based and justified.
Benjamin Tucker, a leading proponent of American individualist anarchism in the 19th century.
8.  In the New Testament God directs the government to strike the criminal with terror, wrath and vengeance without mercy. Watch in amazement as you see that Jesus commanded the death penalty! And the Apostle Paul said he did not object to capital punishment. Then see other Bible characters directly affirm the death penalty.
Bob Enyart, US Pastor promoting his DVD God and the Death Penalty. 2009
9.  I think capital punishment works great. Every killer you kill never kills again.
Bill Mayer, TV host, standup comedian and political commentator.
10. The American people have determined that the good to be derived from capital punishment in deterrence and perhaps most of all in the meting out of condign justice for horrible crimes — outweighs the risk of error. It is no proper part of the business of this court, or of its justices, to second-guess that judgment, much less to impugn it before the world …
A single case—not one—in which it is clear that a person was executed for a crime he did not commit. If such an event had occurred in recent years, we would not have to hunt for it; the innocent’s name would be shouted from the rooftops.
Antonin Scalia, US Supreme Court Justice, 2006 Scalia regarding questions of uncertainty about innocent people being sentenced to death by the modern judicial system.

Death row is a nightmare to serial killers and ax murderers. For an innocent man, it's a life of mental torture that the human spirit is not equipped to survive.
John Grisham, The Confession

It is cold at six-forty in the morning on a March day in Paris, and seems even colder when a man is about to be executed by firing squad.
Frederick Forsyth, The Day of the Jackal

People who change their religion should face the death penalty.
Zakir Naik

In any case, frequent punishments are a sign of weakness or slackness in the government. There is no man so bad that he cannot be made good for something. No man should be put to death, even as an example, if he can be left to live without danger to society.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, The Social Contract

The State is not God. It has not the right to take away what it cannot restore when it wants to.
Anton Chekhov

A solemn day. Barring a stay by Sup Ct, & with my final nod, Utah will use most extreme power & execute a killer. Mourn his victims. Justice.

DEATH PENALTY QUOTES
quotations about the death penalty

For centuries the death penalty, often accompanied by barbarous refinements, has been trying to hold crime in check; yet crime persists.
ALBERT CAMUS, Resistance, Rebellion and Death
I don’t think you should support the death penalty to seek revenge. I don’t think that’s right. I think the reason to support the death penalty is because it saves other people’s lives.
GEORGE W. BUSH, presidential debate, Oct. 17, 2000
Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.
J. R. R. TOLKIEN, The Fellowship of the Ring
I support the death penalty. I think that it has to be administered not only fairly, with attention to things like DNA evidence, which I think should be used in all capital cases, but also with very careful attention. If the wrong guy is put to death, then that’s a double tragedy. Not only has an innocent person been executed but the real perpetrator of the crime has not been held accountable for it, and in some cases may be still at large. But I support the death penalty in the most heinous cases.
AL GORE, presidential debate, Oct. 17, 2000
Government ... can’t be trusted to control its own bureaucrats or collect taxes equitably or fill a pothole, much less decide which of its citizens to kill.
HELEN PREJEAN, Dead Man Walking
I know something about killing. I don't like killing. And I don't think a state honors life by turning around and sanctioning killing. Now, that's just a personal belief that I have.
JOHN KERRY, Wolf Blitzer Reports, CNN, Sep. 17, 1996
A humane and generous concern for every individual, his health and his fulfillment, will do more to soothe the savage heart than the fear of state-inflicted death, which chiefly serves to remind us how close we remain to the jungle.
RAMSEY CLARK, New York Times, Jul. 3, 1968
How come life in prison doesn't mean life? Until it does, we're not ready to do away with the death penalty. Stop thinking in terms of "punishment" for a minute and think in terms of safeguarding innocent people from incorrigible murderers.
JESSE VENTURA, I Ain't Got Time to Bleed
According to the L.A. Times, Attorney General John Ashcroft wants to take "a harder stance" on the death penalty. What's a harder stance on the death penalty? We're already killing the guy? How do you take a harder stance on the death penalty? What, are you going to tickle him first? Give him itching powder? Put a thumbtack on the electric chair?
JAY LENO, The Tonight Show
Death is not only an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality and in its enormity, but it serves no penal purpose more effectively than a less severe punishment; therefore the principle inherent in the clause that prohibits pointless infliction of excessive punishment when less severe punishment can adequately achieve the same purposes invalidates the punishment.
WILLIAM J. BRENNAN, judicial opinion, Jul. 2, 1976
When a juvenile commits a heinous crime, the State can exact forfeiture of some of the most basic liberties, but the State cannot extinguish his life and his potential to attain a mature understanding of his own humanity.
ANTHONY KENNEDY, judicial opinion on Roper v. Simmons, Mar. 1, 2005
Since I was a law student, I have been against the death penalty. It does not deter. It is severely discriminatory against minorities, especially since they’re given no competent legal counsel defense in many cases. It’s a system that has to be perfect. You cannot execute one innocent person. No system is perfect. And to top it off, for those of you who are interested in the economics it, it costs more to pursue a capital case toward execution than it does to have full life imprisonment without parole.
RALPH NADER, Meet the Press interview, Jun. 25, 2000
If we are to abolish the death penalty, I should like to see the first step taken by my friends the murderers.
ALPHONSE KARR, Les Guêpes, Jan. 31, 1849
I personally have always voted for the death penalty because I believe that people who go out prepared to take the lives of other people forfeit their own right to live. I believe that that death penalty should be used only very rarely, but I believe that no-one should go out certain that no matter how cruel, how vicious, how hideous their murder, they themselves will not suffer the death penalty.
MARGARET THATCHER, TV interview, A Plus 4, Oct. 15, 1984
It's just really tragic after all the horrors of the last 1,000 years we can't leave behind something as primitive as government sponsored execution.
RUSS FEINGOLD
Some devout Christians are among the most fervent advocates of the death penalty, contradicting Jesus Christ and justifying their belief on an erroneous interpretation of Hebrew Scriptures. "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth," their most likely response, overlooks the fact that this was promulgated by Moses as a limitation- a prohibition against taking both eyes or all of an offender's teeth in retribution.

Our criminal justice system is fallible. We know it, even though we don't like to admit it. It is fallible despite the best efforts of most within it to do justice. And this fallibility is, at the end of the day, the most compelling, persuasive, and winning argument against a death penalty.
